On May 23rd, 2019, the Government of Canada issued a formal apology and exoneration to Chief Pitikwahanapiwiyin (Poundmaker). This piece was commissioned by the Poundmaker exoneration committee to help celebrate the official exonerating of Chief Poundmaker, on the Poundmaker reserve on May 23rd 2019. This ceremony was attended by many distinguished Canadian delegates including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. I was privileged to write for a sextet of University of Saskatchewan professors and Master’s students, organized by Prof. Darrin Ohlerking who was the liaison between the U of S and the Poundmaker First Nation, and spearheaded the commission.
